С его приходом кардинальные перемены начались на канале. Значительным образом сетка вещания поменялась,аудитория расширилась, а также сам бренд был изменен, под которым работал весь проект. С 2000-го года ОРТ начала называться Первым каналом. Под этим названием он работает и сегодня.
