Сотни людей изображают собой дружину викингов — они одеваются в шкуры с кольчугами и рогатые шлемы. Во время процессии дружинники несут модель корабля викингов, величиной 30 футов к реке – месту ее ритуального сожжения. Принеся корабль к побережью они разжигают огонь и бросают на гигантский корабль 900 огненных факелов. Сожжение корабля символизирует собой ритуалы варваров — подобным образом скандинавские воины хоронили своих товарищей, павших на поле боя. После сожжения драккара участники праздника отправляются в местную ратушу, где проходят театрализованные представления и звучат традиционные песни.
