Казанский университет – одно из старейших учебных заведений России, которому в 2014 году исполняется 210 лет. Мы будем широко отмечать эту дату как символ исторической преемственности в деятельности нашего вуза, который всегда занимал передовые позиции в отечественном и международном научно-образовательном пространстве. Выдающиеся ученые и выпускники снискали ему мировую известность, а университетская культура оказала благотворное влияние на развитие города Казани и всего Поволжского региона.
В современных условиях особое значение для университета имеет обретение им статуса вуза федерального уровня и реализация утвержденной 13 сентября 2010 года Правительством РФ Программы развития КФУ на 2010 – 2019 годы. За время действия этого базового документа введено в строй порядка 370 учебных и научных лабораторий, оснащённых новейшей приборной базой, созданы новые научно-образовательные подразделения, развёрнута масштабная работа по реализации приоритетных научных направлений.
Всё это позволило КФУ в 2013 году по итогам открытого конкурса войти в число 15 ведущих вузов России – участников программы «5:100», которая призвана претворить в жизнь поставленную в Указе В.В. Путина от 7 мая 2012 года задачу обеспечить вхождение к 2020 году не менее пяти российских университетов в первую сотню ведущих мировых университетов. Это нацеливает наш вуз на достижение самых высоких научных результатов и всемерную интернационализацию деятельности, тогда как в качестве федерального университета мы призваны активно взаимодействовать с территориями и обеспечивать массовую подготовку кадров для различных отраслей промышленности.
Взятый нами в своё время курс использовать ресурсы Программы развития КФУ для создания инфраструктуры, прежде всего, естественнонаучного блока позволяют нам сочетать Программу развития с Программой повышения глобальной конкурентоспособности и уверенно двигаться по пути превращения из классического учебного заведения в исследовательский вуз, где заметно представлены предпринимательское и инновационное направления.
