На 43 году жизни закончив обработку
камчатских полевых материалов, подготовив
оба тома к изданию и работая над
предисловием, учёный скоропостижно
скончался 25 февраля 1755 года. Похоронен был
Крашенинников на кладбище Благовещенской
церкви.
В 1988 году прах исследователя перезахоронен с
упразднённого в XVIII веке кладбища у
Благовещенской церкви на Васильевском
острове на Лазаревское кладбище в Санкт-
Петербурге.
