Возрастная физиология, как один из разделов физиологии изучает функции органов, систем органов и организма в целом, особенности жизнедеятельности организма в различные периоды онтогенеза.
Курс возрастной физиологии имеет большое практическое значение и является одним из важнейших компонентов педагогического образования. Физиологические знания необходимы педагогу для активного и сознательного участия в работе по охране здоровья детей и подростков и созданию оптимальных условий для воспитания «физически крепкого молодого поколения с гармоническим развитием физических и духовных сил».
Знание анатомо-физиологических особенностей детского и подросткового возраста помогут педагогу рационально организовать всю учебно-воспитательную работу в процессе игровой и учебной деятельности детей и подростков.
Школьная гигиена – наука, изучающая взаимодействия организма ребенка с внешней средой; с целью разработки на этой основе гигиенических нормативов и требований, направленных на охрану и укрепление здоровья, гармоничное развитие и совершенствование функциональных возможностей организма детей и подростков.
Целью преподавания дисциплины является - вооружить студентов, будущих учителей и воспитателей современными сведениями о возрастных особенностях развивающегося организма, знаниями закономерностей, лежащих в основе сохранения и укрепления здоровья школьников, поддержание их высокой работоспособности при различных видах учебной и трудовой деятельности.
