В Японии, эта милая 40ка сантиметровая кукла с маленькими черными глазками и в кимоно известна каждому человеку. Зовут эту куклу Окику. Считается, что в игрушке живет душа маленькой умершей девочки, которой принадлежала кукла. Но, что же такого необычного в этой кукле? А то, что у нее растут волосы. Легенда гласит, что изначально кукла принадлежала мальчику Эйкиичи Сузуки в 1918 году. Мальчик купил куклу в подарок своей младшей сестренки. Девочке было 2 года. Девочке кукла очень-очень понравилась. Окику не расставалась с куклой практически ни на минуту. Каждый день играла с ней. Но в следующем году девочка умерла от простуды (холода).
Родители поставили куклу на алтарь и все члены семьи молились на нее в память о погибшей девочке. Прошло немного времени, и кто-то заметил, что волосы куклы начали расти. Изначально кукла была с короткой стрижкой. Такой знак посчитали, что душа девочки не успокоилась и укрылась в кукле. В 1938 году семья переехала, а куклу оставили местном монастыре в городе Ивамидзама, острова Хоккайдо. Там и живет сейчас Окику. Работники храма говорят, что волосы Окику выросли на 25 см. и хотя их периодически подрезают, никто еще не смог полностью объяснить почему волосы куклы продолжают расти. Но одно научное исследование, якобы показало, что волосы куклы в действительности аналогичны волосам маленькой девочки.
