Легенда строительство монастыря Taktshang восходит к восьмому веку и связана с реальной исторической фигурой Гуру Ринпоче (Guru Rinpoche) или Падмасамбхава (Padmasambhava). Он до сих пор почитается как второй Будда из-за его большого вклада в распространение буддизма на всей территории от Тибета до Бутана.
