В соответствии с процессным подходом вся производственно-хозяйственная деятельность любой организации рассматривается как набор связанных между собой бизнес-процессов (БП), ориентированных на создание конечной ценности для потребителя. В отличие от него – при функциональном подходе – предприятие рассматривается как набор функциональных структурных подразделений, отделов и служб, объединённых вертикальными связями. Бизнес-процесс (БП) отражает горизонтальные связи между сотрудниками и структурными подразделениями предприятия. Каждый БП разделяется на действия или операции, выполнение которых контролируют ответственные лица.
