Как правило современный бизнес работает по принципу эффекта масштаба, то есть от масштабов инвестирования зависит объем будущего дохода. Фактически бизнес-идея является своего рода коэффициентом, на который умножаются вложенные средства. Поэтому большинство предприятий используют не только собственные средства (объем которых может быть весьма ограничен), но и привлекают капитал извне. Это выгодно как самому предприятию, так как оно увеличивает «размах» и достигает лучших результатов, так и тем, кто доверил свои средства этому предприятию на тех или иных условиях, поскольку они получают доход.
