In Russia and the UK, there are different traditions, customs and holidays. Most of them have common origins understandable for all, and some were due to historical events in a particular society, but despite this, they are very important to both cultures.
Common traditions include business culture. Punctuality, shaking hands wearing formal suits, all this is typical of most modern states. However, each country has its own peculiarities. For example, the fashion for wigs, which appeared in France in the XVII century, "in the world" took place, but in the court and other authorities in Britain it remained.
Holidays is also a very important part of society. One of the common holidays and for the UK and Russia can be called the New Year. The custom of celebrating the New Year already existed in ancient Mesopotamia in the third millennium BC. It is difficult to imagine New Year without a Christmas tree as a Russian citizen and an Englishman. In England, besides trees, the house is decorated with sprigs of mistletoe, and as usual, you can kiss a man standing under a bunch of mistletoe.
Traditions and customs define the culture of human rights. A culture unites the entire country that makes other people to understand and respect their differences.
