Величественная постройка в стиле классицизма создана в 1834-1840 под руководством итальянского архитектора Дж. Салуччи по заказу короля Вильгельма I как жилье для его дочерей Марии и Софии. Интерьеры принадлежат К.Л. фон Цанту. Позже дворец стал резиденцией последнего короля Вюртемберга Вильгельма II, где он прожил до ноябрьской революции 1918 года. Перед зданием установлена бронзовая скульптура, изображающая короля на прогулке с его собаками Али и Руби. После революции здание использовалось городом как выставочный зал и музей. После войны от него остались только стены, но в 1961-1965 гг. произведено восстановления замка вместе с интерьерами. Теперь в здании расположена центральная городская библиотека и графотека.
