Вопросы предупреждения болезней на основе соблюдения правил личной гигиены и рациональной диететики занимали значительное место в медицине древнего мира. Однако разработка научных основ профилактики началась лишь в 19 в. благодаря развитию общебиологических наук, медицинской науки в целом и появлению ее многочисленных дисциплин, занимающихся частными вопросами, в особенности физиологии, гигиены и эпидемиологии; большую роль сыграло распространение общественных идей в клинической медицине. Передовые врачи и деятели медицинской науки (как в России, так и за рубежом) видели будущее медицины в развитии общественной профилактики и связи лечебной и профилактической медицины. «Будущее принадлежит медицине предупредительной. Эта наука … принесет несомненную пользу человечеству.» - говорил Н.И. Пирогов. Я согласна с его высказыванием и в доказательство своей точки зрения приведу несколько аргументов. Успех лечения во многом определяется фундаментальными и прикладными разработками в области профилактики и гигиены, которые проводятся гигиенистами, токсикологами, радиологами, эпидемиологами, инфекционистами, профпатологами, а также специалистами в области социальной медицины, общей и медицинской экологии. Результат в предупреждении заболеваний достигается в итоге комплексных исследований. Именно в них, как в гигиенической, так в теоретической и клинической науках, а также на практике должен реализовываться и совершенствоваться опыт единой социальной медицины с доминирующей идеей профилактики. Установленные гигиенические нормативы, санитарные стандарты, правила, требования нашли отражение и продолжают включаться по мере разработки новых регламентаций в санитарное законодательство. К сожалению, в последние годы все чаще возникает реальная опасность экологически обу¬словленных нарушений здоровья, поражений от промышленных токсикантов, сельскохозяйственных ядохимикатов, бытовых химических веществ, синтетических материалов, радионуклидов, электромагнитных полей, других физических факторов, экзогенных биологических воздействий. Отсюда крайняя необходимость комплексных исследований учеными-гигиенистами и экологами закономерностей влияния на человека и среду его обитания сочетанных воздействий разнообразных факторов, оценки адекватности современных методов, показателей и тестов, позволяющих оценивать эти комбинированные воздействия. Итак, задачи нынешней профилактической медицины стали еще более ответственными и многообразными.
