Российская позиция в вопросах постконфликтного обустройства страны, так же как и ранее в отношении способов разрешения иракского кризиса, последовательна и совершенно прозрачна. После окончания войны центральная роль ООН должна быть не только восстановлена, но и усилена. Центральный вопрос сегодня — решение гуманитарных проблем иракского народа. Россия в свое время выступала и за смягчение, и даже за отмену санкций против Ирака. Однако наши партнеры по Совету Безопасности считали, что пока не будет определенности в отношении наличия или отсутствия оружия массового уничтожения в Ираке санкции необходимо сохранить.
Сегодня необходимо сосредоточиться и спокойно определить за¬дачи. Первое — какие действия необходимо предпринять в целях безотлагательного решения гуманитарных проблем Ирака. И второе — как международное сообщество может фактически и юридически поставить, в конце концов, точку в вопросе об оружии массового уничтожения.
