Впервой половине VII в.в внешней убранстве фасадов и барабанов нескольких памятников применялись декоративные аркады с двойными пилястрами (Звартноц, Артик, Талин, Воскепар, Сисаван и тд. ). Орнаменты капителей пилястр внешних декоративных аркад храма Звартноц имеют мотив принятый в декоративном искусстве. Этот мотив, имея глубокие корни в миниатюрах, символизирует смысль пора-родителей. В убранстве Звартноца тоже символично и выступает как символ новой жизни и плодородия
