19 сентября 1949 г. на базе педагог

19 сентября 1949 г. на базе педагогического училища в Кемерове открыт Учительский институт с отделениями русского языка и литературы, физики и математики. Набор на каждое из отделений первоначально составил по 100 человек.

По состоянию на 1952/53 учебный год в институте действовало 6 кафедр:

кафедра марксизма-ленинизма,
кафедра педагогики и психологии,
кафедра русского языка
кафедра литературы
кафедра физики и математики
кафедра физвоспитания
За 4 года существования дневное отделение выпустило более 500 учителей 5-7 классов. Более 100 педагогов подготовило заочное отделение. 20 выпускников института получили дипломы с отличием.
