После прочтения «Скотного двора» Джорджа Оруэлла создается впечатление, что жажда власти, сложные взаимоотношения, умелая организация общественной жизни, которая основывается на лжи - атрибуты, присущие не только людям, но и животным. Однако, это всего лишь удачная и остроумная развёрнутая метафора, использованная автором для того, чтобы как можно ярче донести до читателя крайне волнующую Оруэлла проблему – как под прикрытием «благих намерений», путем силы и идеологического зомбирования создаются общества, в которых людям запрещено даже иметь свое мнение, не говоря уже о какой-то свободе действий. В этом романе получили свое отражение основы существования общества, рассматриваемые непосредственно на примере жизни животных, которые живут на скотном дворе фермера. У этих животных подозрительно много человеческих черт, что явно указывает на то, кто «спрятан» за героями.
