Игры 1920 года, которые проходили в Антверпене, стал первыми в истории, прошедшими под олимпийским флагом (то самое белое полотно с кольцами). На церемонии открытия в торжественной обстановке флаг был поднят, но спустя всего два дня знамя... пропало. В спешном порядке пришлось отыскивать новое полотнище, и флаг вновь поднялся над стадионом. Как выяснилось 80 (!) лет спустя, оригинальный флаг был украден... бронзовым призером тех Игр по прыжкам в воду американцем Хэлом Хейгом Присте. Он признался в содеянном только в 1997 году, а спустя еще три года, в 103-летнем возрасте, он передал флаг Хуану-Антонио Самаранчу, тогдашнему президенту МОК, со словами «Мне он больше ни к чему».
