Обеспечение населения качественной питьевой водой является одной из актуальнейших задач в связи с этим в рамках ведется строительство новой очистной станции водопровода (ОСВ), производительностью 63 тыс м3.
В городе Кокшетау источниками водоснабжения являются - Чаглинское водохранилище и Кокшетауского группового водопровода, забор воды для нужд которого производится из Сергеевского водохранилища.Это искусственные водоёмы, состав воды, которых во многом зависит от характера их питания. Большое количество питательных веществ, высокая прозрачность воды и солнечная радиация создают благоприятные условия в водохранилище для развития растительных и животных организмов и обогащения воды органическими веществами.

При обработке воды Чаглинского водохранилища применяются различные реагенты ( жидкий хлор и др.)- Для очистки воды от взвешенных веществ и коллоидных соединений на очистной станции водопровода применяется: кварцевый песок. Использование кварцевого песка существенно улучшает органолептические показатели: мутность, запах, вкус.

The use of quartz sand significantly improves the organoleptic characteristics: turbidity, the smell, the taste.
