В 2012 начался протест против строительства. Местных жителей беспокоят выбросы формальдегида, превышение концентрации которого может привести к развитию рака, центральной нервной системы и т.д.
Организован протестный лагерь у стройплощадки;
Регулярные митинги и народные сходы;
Общественное движения «СтопКроношпан» и «АнтиКроношпан».

В апреле 2015 года жители Уфа обратились к Президенту РФ с просьбой вмешаться в ситуацию со строительством завода.
Итог: Ситуация по-прежнему находится в острой фазе. 1 июня 2015 года в Уфе отметили годовщину голодовки против «Кроношпана».
