Показались первые лучи солнца. Корабль неумолимо приближался к неизвестным берегам. Какие сюрпризы и опасности приберегли для них эти чужие земли? Каждый думал о своем, хаотично перебирая в воображении разные образы. Капитан, на прозвище Бывалый, стоял у штурвала, задумчиво вглядываясь вдаль. Родом он был из богатой семьи, но праздная жизнь оказалась для него слишком тяжким бременем. Будучи ещё ребенком, он выбрал путь путешественника и посвятил свою жизнь открытиям неизведанного. За долгие годы Бывалый успел объездить почти весь мир: пересек Атлантический океан и увидел некогда открытый Колумбом новый континент, побывал в раскаленных пустынях Африки, несколько лет жил в Индии, но никогда и нигде не задерживался слишком долго. Его манили приключения.
