Столица республики Татарстан поделена на 7 районов: Советский, Московский, Кировский, Приволжский, Авиастроительный, Вахитовский, Ново-Савиновский.Основной достопримечательностью Казани является белокаменный Казанский Кремль, который был возведен в далеком 1399 году. Оборонительная крепость Кремля имеет 8 башен. Раньше здесь располагался ханский дворец и мечеть. А сейчас в Кремле расположена резиденция и аппарат президента Татарстана. Можно увидеть Спасскую башню, Благовещенский собор, мечеть Кул-Шариф, которая была построена совсем недавно. Сегодня она является главной соборной мечетью республики. На территории Кремля для туристов открыты музеи и экспозиции. Казанский Кремль внесен в список наследия ЮНЕСКО.
