Музей природы и экологии c 1990 года размещался по улице Театральной, а с 1996 года находится по проспекту Достык – Дружбы, 151/2. Музей имеет три зала. В первом зале демонстрируются достижения ученых-исследователей края, полезные ископаемые и кости древних животных края. Самыми интересными экспонатами музея являются кости вымерших животных – бивень, позвонок, коренной зуб мамонта. Во втором зале экспонируются насекомые края, которых на территории Северного Прикаспия насчитывается 30-40 тыс. видов, диорама «Степь», где представлены животные: сурок, шакал, степной орел, сайгак. В третьем зале представлены диорама «Лес». Самыми крупными животными наших лесов являются лось, косуля, барсук, рысь, лисица. Белуга, осетр, стерлядь, севрюга, сазан, щука, судак представлены в экспозиции музея. Заканчивается экспозиция разделом, где представлены Красная книга Республики Казахстан.
