Каждый человек имеет представление о хорошем и плохом, о том что можно делать и чего нельзя. Эти понятия являются основой нашей жизни и всех совершаемых поступков. Но, достаточно ли этого, что бы совершать действия? Сократ в большей степени считал, что нужны прежде всего знания, что бы могли судить или оправдывать. Это можно понять из его слов : "You must have an extraordinarily profound
knowledge of right and wrong, to have had the confidence to bring such an action" (The Euthyphro, Plato; p.44, line 2). Сократ это философ, который не спешит опровергнуть даже самую глупую идею, он в первую очередь старается доказать правду. Важно иметь для этого основания и они есть на протяжении всей истории. Что бы определить что есть то самое "хорошо" что объединяет разные поступки воедино, нам нужно понять что есть это "хорошо".
