Букингемский дворец – это маленький город – с наличием своего отделения полиции, двух почтовых офисов, госпиталя, бара, двух спортивных клубов, кинотеатра и бассейна. Во дворце насчитывается близко 600 комнат и приблизительно 3-и мили красных ковровых дорожек. В настоящее время Парадные залы постоянно используются королевой и членами королевской семьи для приема и развлечения гостей по случаю различных торжественных событий, церемоний и официальных мероприятий. В Галерее королевы проводятся выставки из королевской коллекции : огромная картинная галерея с работами Рембрандта, Рубенса и др., а также французский севрский фарфор, французская и английская мебель. До недавнего времени дворец не был доступным широкой публике, но уже летом 1993 года двери этого музея впервые были открыты для широкой публики.
