Well I finally made it to the Ukraine. Arrived in Kiev about midnight yesterday and was driven to Sumy. Boy that road is rough-it needs a lot of work. I think I'm still in about 10 pieces from the bouncing for 4 1/2 hours. Other than the flight from Dallas to Frankfurt (where I got a really nice first-class seat on a B-777), the trip was a real pain in the neck. We had a mechanical delay at Dallas for an hour so I missed my first connection to Kyiv and sat around the airport at Frankfurt for 12 hours. Then the German security at Frankfurt airport was crazy-they took everything out and searched every square inch of my bags. They confiscated things that had gone through security all over the world and are considered safe. But I made it here in one piece and not too late.
Today I walked around Sumy, got some money out of the ATM, ate at a restaurant borsch, bought food, clothing and some & tried to organize my apartment some. I am hoping to eventually be able to go to the theater and see a play. I plan to sightsee some more around the area tomorrow. I will be staying in the eastern Ukraine for a few days. I still need to get some business cards made up and some medical articles translated into Russian and printed out for distribution to doctors and therapists. I was not able to do this back in the US because of the delays from snowstorms.
Since my trips lately have been so messed up I been sleep deprived and still am quite tired. Tomorrow I hope to work out my rough travel plans in the Ukraine. Do you still like me to let you know what I'm in Crimea? I am still interested in meeting in the learning more about you and your life if you wish. I realize it's a bad time, since it's the holiday season but we can work around your schedule I do not want to be a trouble. I bought a sim card for my iPhone. My MTS number is 380 (66) 715-5486 if you would like to talk
.I certainly hope you had a good last few days and you're excited about the new year and Christmas coming up. I hope to hear from you and eventually meet but I wish you good luck regardless. Take care With love
.
Robert
