Статья посвящена изучению роли и особенностям функционирования реалий-американизмов как средства создания стилистического эффекта в художественном тексте. Анализ проводится на материале американизмов в романе британского писателя Н. Хорнби «A Long Way Down» («Долгое падение»). Выделяются следующие функции американизмов: лингвоэтнической идентификации говорящего, языковой мимикрии, принадлежности к социальной группе.
