Мы обсуждали отношения между Россией и европейскими странами. Мы видим в этих отношениях залог развития мира, демократии и правового пространства на всем нашем континенте. Нам бы хотелось, чтобы саммит ЕС–Россия, который пройдет в мае, был успешным и в рамках реализации тех четырех пространств, о которых мы говорили в Санкт-Петербурге и над которыми мы ведем совместную работу. Мы надеемся, что встреча 10 мая 2005 года ЕС–Россия будет успешной и будут приняты решения в отношении реализации четырех пространств: свободного перемещения людей, соблюдения прав человека, научных и культурных обменов, усиления торгового сотрудничества, сближения наших экономических и торговых правил, совместных действий в пользу мира на европейском континенте и во всем мире.

Мы ставим перед собой амбициозные задачи и рассчитываем достигнуть их с учетом совместных действий в рамках четырех пространств. Мы стремимся совместно реализовать такое единство между Европейским союзом и Россией, и для того чтобы достигнуть этих целей, нам, естественно, понадобится время. Но мы намерены совместно работать в этом направлении, потому что это путь к миру, это путь к демократии для всей Большой Европы.

Мы говорили о международных вопросах в рамках нашего ужина. Я хочу сделать только два замечания.

Хочу отметить, что мы высоко оцениваем волю, проявленную Соединенными Штатами, которые решили с начала второго мандата американского президента возобновить диалог с Россией. А с другой стороны – возобновить активный диалог со странами Европейского союза. Мы также видим проявление этой трансатлантической воли и между Россией и Соединенными Штатами в деле внесения вклада в создание более надежного, справедливого мира, который бы уважал все существующие в нем различия.

Кроме того, мы говорим о вопросах, которые касаются Европы, об Украине, о Косово. Мы говорим о проблемах, о тех переговорах, которые мы ведем с Ираном в области использования ядерной энергии, об обеспечении мирного процесса на Ближнем Востоке. Мы говорим о будущем Ирака и о тех проблемах, с которыми сталкивается Ливан в связи с необходимостью выполнять международные решения, применять резолюцию 1559. Мы также приняли совместное коммюнике в отношении Ливана. В этом совместном коммюнике Европейский союз решительно настаивает на необходимости соблюдения резолюции 1559.

Хотелось бы также напомнить, что сегодня утром в рамках завтрака мы говорили с Президентом Путиным на двусторонней основе. Говорили о проблемах, которые непосредственно касаются взаимоотношений России и Франции. Разговор прошел в самой наилучшей атмосфере.

Одной из центральных тем встречи стало развитие диалога России с Евросоюзом. Мы вновь подтвердили, что нацелены на долгосрочное и многостороннее партнерство. И в этой связи особое внимание уделили подготовке к предстоящему майскому саммиту Россия–ЕС в Москве.

Должен вам сказать, что мы активно работаем сейчас с Комиссией Европейских сообществ для подготовки соответствующих документов на экспертном уровне. Сегодняшняя встреча нам крайне важна.
