My favourite author is Nikolai Gogol. He is an brilliant Russian writer. I enjoy reading this author for his vivid imagination, his brilliant sense of humour and very rich,inventive language. He is so creative, imaginative and descriptive. Nicolai Gogol born in Sorochintsi, Ukraine, in 1809. He started writing at school. In 1828 he went to St Petersburg. His first novel Hans Kuchelgarten was published there in 1829 but it was not a success. Gogol worked as a teacher tried to become an actor and wrote for some magazines, until he met Alexander Pushkin in 1831. A. Pushkin affected his choice of literary material greatly especially his Dikanka Tales which was founded on Ukrainian folklore. Gogol used his vivid imagination to develop fabulous a plot.N.Gogol was a master of genres.He wrote historical fiction,short stories,horror stories,fairy tales,plays and a novels.I particularly enjoy his famous historical tale Taras Buiba.It is a powerful story.And especially l liked Taras Buiba,who was a very strong and heroic characred.Gogol is best known for his realistic novel Dead Souls and his famous comedy The Inspector General.The ideas of these famous works were suggested to Gogol by Pushkin.His books are so suspenseful that you can’t stop reading.And the characters are great!
