From a geopolitical point of view, the emergence of stronger Korea is also in the interest of our country. As you know, Russia has serious territorial problems with Japan, to the development of bilateral relations. Some circles in Moscow and in the East of the country fear that a thriving today, China could become a geopolitical threat to Russia. Similar problems with Korea, and permissible expect unified Korea, from the point of view of Moscow, would represent a useful counterweight to Japanese and Chinese influence in the region. Given the complex history of Korean-Japanese and Korean-Chinese relations, presumably for a unified Korea, relations with Russia will have similar geopolitical importance. At the same time from a single Korea, over which, moreover, would not be constantly hanging the threat of aggression, you can expect a more independent foreign policy, and the role of Washington here, will likely decrease slightly.
