С геополитической точки зрения возникновение более сильной Кореи также отвечает интересам нашей страны. Как известно, у России есть серьезные территориальные проблемы с Японией, сдерживающие развитие двусторонних отношений. Некоторые круги в Москве и на востоке страны опасаются, что бурно развивающийся сегодня Китай в перспективе может стать геополитической угрозой для России. Подобных проблем с Кореей не возникает, и позволительно ожидать, что единая Корея, с точки зрения Москвы, будет представлять собой полезный противовес японскому и китайскому влиянию в регионе. Учитывая сложную историю корейско-японских и корейско-китайских отношений, надо полагать, что и для единой Кореи отношения с Россией будут иметь аналогичное геополитическое значение. В то же время от единой Кореи, над которой к тому же не будет постоянно висеть угроза агрессии, можно ожидать более самостоятельной внешней политики, а роль Вашингтона здесь, вероятно, несколько снизится.
