К 1930 годам была освоена технология папье – маше, из которого изготовляли шкатулки, ларцы, бисерницы. Изделия стали оформлять миниатюрной живописью. С 1932 г. артель стала именоваться артелью «Пролетарское искусство», с 1960 г. фабрикой «Пролетарское искусство».
В 1994 году фабрика реорганизована в ТОО ЦТММ, а с 20 мая 1998 г. организован Производственный кооператив «Центр традиционной мстёрской миниатюры». Сегодня Центр миниатюры является единственным предприятием в поселке, где сохранены уникальные технологии производства папье-маше, соблюдены древние процессы изготовления красок и многие другие вековые традиции создания мстёрской миниатюры.
