in the past few years, chemical functionalization of the inorganic framework of porous materials has been devoted for various applications such as solid phase extraction. Silica is chemically inert but allows irreversible surface modification by reaction of the surface silanol groups with organic species. chemical modifications of the pore with metals (Okumura, Tsubota, Iwamoto, & Haruta, 1998), metal oxides (Grubert, Rathousky,Schulzekloff, Wark, & Zukal, 1998; Mulukutla, Asakura, Namba, & Iwasawa, 1998), and organic moieties (ho and mckay, & yeung, 2003; perez quintanilla, sanchez, del hierro, Fajardo, & sierra, 2009; thomas, 1994; van Rhijn et al., 1998) are successful in tailoring the physical, chemical and catalytic properties of these materials. sba - 15 is a highly ordered material possessing a regular two dimensional hexagonal array of channels. it is similar in structure to the better known mcm - 41, however due to its larger size and pore thicker pore one. it has the ability to capture larger moleculesand has greater stability in aqueous solution (Northcott, Kokusen, komatsu, & stevens, 2006; Vinu & hartmann, 2004).
