Содержанием дальневосточной политики России остается неизменно позитивное отношение к перспективе объединения Кореи. Кроме того, любой конфликт в регионе Северо-Восточной Азии напрямую угрожает военной, политической и экономической безопасности российского Дальнего Востока. К сожалению, ситуация на Корейском полуострове в последние год делает эту угрозу достаточно реальной. В такой ситуации устранение главной причины — конфронтации Республики Корея и КНДР вне всяких сомнений соответствует коренным интересам России в Северо-Восточной Азии.
