С Oracle DB я работаю больше 5 лет. В нашей компании я реализовал проект по повышению производительности системы, за счет секционирования данных, оптимизации SQL запросов, использование хинтов и парралельности. С Sybase у меня нет опыта работы, но так как это реляционная база данных, я думаю проблем не возникнет. distributed caches используется в продукте Oracle Coherence для интеграции HA систем. В своей практики у меня не было необходимости в использовании данного продукта и для решения подобных задач мы использовали кэш в нашей ESB. Судя по документации, данный продукт может решить множество задач по масштабированию, reliability, доступности в HA системах. Мне бы было интересно с ним поработать.
