The Phantom 2 FPV Turnkey Bundle with GoPro HERO3+ Black is a bundle put together by B&H that aims to provide you with all of the essential hardware to start flying and capturing great HD video while at it. The bundle includes the Phantom 2 Quadcopter with spare battery, the Zenmuse H3-3D 3-axis gimbal, the GoPro HERO3+ Black Edition action camera, a video transmission system with battery/charger for receiver (WARC2220C3S and DJ20WRBCH), iOSD module, 5.6 field monitor, 32GB microSDHC card, cables and sundries parts, and a watertight hard case with wheels to pack it all--and more--in. This is a "ready-to-fly" package, meaning the gimbal, iOSD, video transmitter, and associated hardware is installed in-house by B&H technicians and tested to be in working order. Of course, you will still have to follow a series of pre-flight calibration steps before the Phantom 2 is ready to hit the skies.
At the center of this bundle is the Phantom 2 Quadcopter, a four-rotor remote control helicopter designed to act as an aerial platform for a GoPro HERO action camera. It features self-tightening propellers, a slot-in battery with LED indicators visible during flight, and includes a 2.4 GHz hand-held radio controller (transmitter) that is pre-bound to the aircraft and has a range of up to 3,280' line-of-sight, depending on conditions. A spare 5200 mAh flight battery is included as part of the bundle, and flying time for each battery is estimated to run up to 22 minutes. In addition to the included AC charger, there is a car charger available separately so you can always keep a battery charging in the field.
To mount the GoPro, the Zenmuse H3-3D gimbal is included. Improving over the previous H3-2D model, it features a 3-axis brushless gimbal that not only supports tilting and canting, like the H3-2D, but panning as well. Not only will it keep your aerial video's horizon level and isolated from vibration, the gimbal can also be used to remotely operate there camera, allowing you to adjust the camera angle with ±0.08° accuracy in-flight. The gimbal is exclusively for the GoPro HERO3 and HERO3+.
The GoPro HERO3+ Black Edition is included so you can actually capture aerial footage whether for recording, as an "eye-in-the-sky" to get the FPV (first person view) experience, or both. The Black Edition features 4K video capture at 15 fps, 2.7K capture at 30 fps, 60 fps in Full HD 1080p, and can also take up to 12MP still photos. Internally, it records video and photos to a microSD memory card up to 64GB in capacity, and there is 32GB card included as part of the bundle. Although the HERO3+ Black Edition has built-in Wi-Fi, it is very important this feature is turned OFF while it is mounted on the Phantom 2. Otherwise the Wi-Fi can potentially interfere with the quadcopter's internal receiver causing the controls to become unresponsive.
For in-flight monitoring, the AVL58 5.8 GHz Video Link Kit transmits a composite SD video feed from the camera to a receiver at the ground end, and has a range of up to 3937' line-of-sight, depending on conditions. The video receiver pairs with a 5.6" LCD monitor that was chosen because it is fully analog. The advantage of this monitor is that it will continue to show an image, no matter how poor, regardless of how weak the signal gets, until it is lost completely. Monitors with digital processing, on the other hand, will cut to a default "no signal" screen once the signal strength drops below a certain threshold which can cause frequent interruptions when using wireless video as a source. To power the video receiver and, if you want, the monitor too, the Phantom 1 LiPo battery (2200 mAh, 3S 11.1V 20C) and a charger are included (WARC2220C3S and DJ20WRBCH respectively). Rest assured both these parts are not here by mistake. They are for the receiver and monitor, and the necessary modifications to the wiring have been made.
The iOSD module takes heading, altitude, GPS coordinate, horizontal and vertical speed, and other data from the Phantom 2's flight computer and superimposes it over the image sent back to the video receiver at the ground end. Not only will be you be able to see what your GoPro sees, but also know exactly how the Phantom 2 is flying.
Note: This kit is pre-modified by B&H specialists before shipping to ensure proper and synchronized operation. These alterations may include, but are not limited to, soldering, resoldering, updating software and more. Also note, some of the accessories in this bundle may include parts not required for this particular installation. These parts have been left in the box as they could be useful if you ever decide to re-purpose any of the hardware for future applications.
Warning: Never use the DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter with your GoPro camera when both devices have their Wi-Fi systems turned on. The DJI Phantom 2's radio controller and the GoPro HERO3+'s Wi-Fi run on the same frequency, so if you use them together when both Wi-Fi systems are engaged, the DJI Phantom's transmitter will lose the ability to communicate with the DJI Phantom Quadcopter. Whenever this happens, you will not be able to tell the Phantom where to fly. This may result in loss of property or damage to your equipment.

Note: The RC LiPo Battery with XT60 Connector for DJI Phantom Quadcopter (11.1V, 2200 mAh) and DJI Replacement Charger for Phantom Battery are included in this kit by design, and are intended to power the wireless video receiver.
