Исторически законодательная база страны постоянно изменялась. Начиная с 1912 года смертная казнь на территории Беларуси отменялась трижды и столько же раз возобновлялась. В уголовном законодательстве пересматривалось количество преступлений, за которые можно было приговорить к расстрелу.
