В Григорьев день в русских деревнях полагалось делать добрые дела самим и вспоминать о добрых делах, сделанных другими. О своих же хороших поступках не рассказывали: творить добро нужно было не для показухи, а ради собственной души. По этому поводу говорили: «Господь и так все добрые дела видит».
