Его обнаружили при разработке грунта в песчаном карьере, расположенном неподалеку. По инициативе отца Александра, настоятеля храма Иконы Божией Матери «Живоносный Источник», валун привезли оттуда и установили рядом с храмом. Поблизости в небольшом бетонном кольце находится святой источник и купальня на искусственном водоёме.
