В феврале 2006 года на заседании Международной организации труда была принята Конвенция «О труде в морском судоходстве» (MLC, 2006). Именно тогда весь морской мир начал подготовку к ее ратификации и приведению законодательства своих стран в соответствие нормам и положениям Конвенции.
