HOUSEHOLD CHORES

All the members of my family have their domestic responsibilities. As is common in most families, my mum does the cooking in our family. She is very good at cooking. All things she cooks are just yummy. Her speciality is a strawberry pie. It is to die for. Sometimes my dad and I help her fix meals. But we are not as good at cooking as my mum is. My mum also does most of the laundry.

Manual work is my dad’s domain, so to speak. He repairs things like household devices and furniture. My dad is very good with his hands. He enjoys doing do-it-yourself activity. Another responsibility of my dad is to buy food at the market. He buys such things as meat, eggs, oil, fruit and vegetables. Usually he does it on Saturday.

As for me, my chief household chore is cleaning the flat. I do my best to keep the flat in perfect order because I am very houseproud. I clean the floor, dust the furniture and hoover the carpets. I also take out our household rubbish. Shopping is another responsibility of mine. It’s usually me who shop for bread, milk, sugar and suchlike things. Frankly speaking, shopping is my favourite chore. Sometimes I will browse for hours on end. My folks wonder why shopping always takes me so much time.

There are several things which we usually do together. I mean such chores as refurbishing our flat or working on our garden plot. If I’m honest, I don’t dance with joy when I have to work on our garden plot. For me it is not just a chore but drudgery. I am not much into digging the soil and watering plants. But nothing doing. Someone has to do it. Life is not a bowl of cherries, after all.

Well, that is briefly all I was going to say about the domestic chores in our family.
