Центральный фонтан Большого каскада — Самсон был установлен в центре Большого ковша в 1735 году, по распоряжению императрицы Анны Иоанновны. Посвящен годовщине Полтавской битвы (1709г.).
Нижний парк Петергофа-это самая известная часть дворцово-паркового комплекса. Именно этот замечательный ансамбль с его архитектурными памятниками, фонтанами и скульптурным украшением принес музею-заповеднику мировую славу.
