Гора начала расти в 1973 году в результате добычи оксида калия и теперь ее высота превышает 200 метров, а площадь достигает 100 гектар. Крупнейший в мире рудник по добыче оксида калия, ежечасно производит 900 тонн хлорида натрия (поваренной соли), являющегося побочным продуктом. Огромный холм содержит около 188 миллионов тонн поваренной соли, загрязняющей почву и местные водоемы.
