Сокращение

Еще один тип словообразования, также являющийся источником неологизмов Обилие сокращенных слов, особенно часто встречающихся в заголовках - характерная черта языка газеты.
Аббревиатура, т.е. сокращение слов до одной буквы, большей частью произносится по буквам:
HO - Home Office;
UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization;
WHO - World Health Organization;
NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Как правило, такие сокращения, давно вошедшие в употребление, не объясняются в тексте.
