Машина времени – мечта многих и многих. Как мне хочется владеть этим сокровищем! Это желание особенно сильно, когда я читаю о «делах давно минувших дней, преданьях старины глубокой».
Я открываю книгу – и вижу себя леди Ровеной и Дездемоной, Джульеттой и Марией Волконской, Таис Афинской и Анной Карениной, Изольдой и Лейлой, Татьяной Лариной и Брунхильдой… Как мне хотелось бы оказаться в той эпохе, примерить на себя наряды, прически, облик, чувства!..
Чувства? Вот эти страдания и метания? Это горе и разочарование? Боль измены, горечь предательства, отчаяние, смерть, наконец? Нет! Я не хочу этого удела – горестной судьбы женщины, обреченной тревожно ожидать любимого с полей сражений, с заседания Государственного совета, с дружеской пирушки…
Может, поискать идеал в фантастических романах? Может, мир будущего предложит гармоничную модель счастья?
Но и тут меня ждет разочарование. Даже достаточно оптимистичные Ефремов и Лем не оставляют ни малейшей надежды.
Так в какой же эпохе я хотела бы жить?
Прежде всего, это должна быть эра мира.
Мне не нужны войны, ссоры и распри. Я не хочу, чтобы кого-то убивали, терзали, обижали. В эпохе моей мечты нет места войнам Карабаха, Сербии, Донбасса, Ирака. Это должен быть век мира и процветания, век братской любви, век единения народов. Я мечтаю о времени, когда мужчины забудут суровые речи вражды, а женские уста перестанут исторгать горестные вопли и проклятия врагам-убийцам; когда слова нежности, обеты любви и песни счастья станут единственно возможными звуками человеческой речи.
Во-вторых, это должна быть эра содружества.
Я хочу, чтобы человек стал человеку братом и другом, чтобы недостатки и странности ближнего встречались сочувствием и пониманием, снисходительностью и терпением. Мы все – дети Адамовы, а значит – родня, ветви одного дерева, струи одного потока, лучи одного светоча, вершины одного хребта. Если бы это было не так, то в ни в одном языке мира не существовало бы слова для обозначения единства всех людей на Земле. Но ведь оно есть на всех языках!!! Так в какую эпоху я хотела бы жить? Античность? Средневековье? Эпоха Возрождения? Новые или новейшие времена? Будущее? Вряд ли… Если уж выбирать, то я выбрала бы совершенно невозможную, абсолютно нереальную, решительно утопическую, безусловно фантастическую, но такую желанную, вымечтанную, а значит – непременную и обязательную для осуществления – Эру Милосердия.
