Васильево расположено в пойме Волги

Васильево расположено в пойме Волги, на левом берегу реки. C юга посёлок ограничен Куйбышевским водохранилищем, на котором в этом районе расположен ряд островов. С севера Васильево ограничено бывшей протокой Карасихой, в середине ХХ века превращенной в ряд болотистых озёр из-за постройки мостков через неё. В западной части посёлка протекает маловодный левый приток Волги река Сумка.
