Опера Джузеппе Верди, написанная по заказу египетского хедива Исмаила-паши для новооткрытого Каирского оперного театра. Либретто Антонио Гисланцони написал по сценарию египтолога О. Ф. Мариетта. Действие происходит в Мемфисе и Фивах во времена владычества фараонов. В опере повествуется о несчастной любви предводителя египетских войск Радамеса и рабыни Аиды — дочери эфиопского царя, с войсками которого сражаются египтяне.

Первое представление состоялось 24 декабря 1871 года в Каире.

Опера исполняется на итальянском языке

Спектакль – лауреат Красноярского краевого фестиваля «Театральная весна – 2015» в номинациях «Лучшая женская роль в оперном спектакле» и «Лучшая мужская роль второго плана в оперном спектакле».
