This is not a time-limited process requires much greater courage on the part of parents, as well as from the future bride or groom, compared to an arranged marriage with a set time limit. Men and women are afraid of the shame and trauma, which can be obtained from the possible failure and, therefore, avoid the process of courtship. In some cases, a future marriage partner may be chosen by the children themselves, and not their parents or matchmaker. In such cases, parents should let disagreement on the selection and not allow the marriage to take place, or to give consent to the selection and to agree to the marriage. Such cases are different from a love marriage because courtship shortened or absent, and parents have the prerogative to disagree on the selection. Arranged marriages are popular in South Korea.
