In coursework the following methods were used: a theoretical-analytical analysis (literature), obŝedidaktičeskij (analysis of programs, educational literature), a systematic approach (instructional design and simulation).The theoretical significance of the study lies in the fact that:-clarified the term "sociocultural competence;-described essence of concept "sociocultural competence;-identified principles of socio-cultural competence in teaching reading in English in school children of the middle classes;-specifics of sociocultural competence in teachingreading in English.The practical significance of the study is to develop a methodological model for the formation of sociocultural competence in learning to read in English, which includes a set of exercises and assignments. Coursework structure consists of an introduction, two chapters, conclusions and a list of references.
