Изучались процедуры, связанные с лечением пожилых людей больных диабетом, причем половина лечащих врачей были женщинами.
Как оказалось, женщины гораздо лучше соблюдают рекомендации, в частности чаще назначают рекомендуемые методиками лечения лекарства и соответствующие диагностические процедуры. Так, три из четырех врачей-женщин назначали своим пациентам обследование глаз, в то время, как только 70% мужчин назначали аналогичную процедуру своим пациентам.
Проще говоря, врачи-женщины проводят со своими пациентами больше времени, а врачи мужчины более выгодны больницам, так как за год обслуживают большее количество пациентов.
