Третий этап физического образования Лесгафт называл периодом обучения управлению движениями по времени их выполнения, по характеру прилагаемых усилий, ориентированию в пространстве. Например, школьников учили пробегать определенное расстояние в установленное учителем время, метать в цель и т. п. С помощью подобных упражнений развивалось мышечное чувство, в частности при их выполнении в изменяющихся внешних условиях. Этот этап предназначался для школьников старшего возраста — 15-18 лет.
