Главная героиня фильма Амели родилась в Японии, но в 5 лет вынуждена была переехать с родителями в Бельгию. Однако, Амели скучает по Японии. Она устраивается в крупную японскую корпорацию переводчиком. Она восхищается своей красивой, умной и грациозной начальницей Фубуки, которая является воплощением японской женщины.
